The system uses a laser to convert electricity into light for transmission over fiber optics. Fibre optics work by transmitting light signals instead of electrical signals like those found in traditional copper wire. Fibre optic cables do this by acting as a wave guide for light waves of a certain frequency. EMI/RFI immunity: Because the signal is being transmitted with light, fibre-optic transmission is immune to electromagnetic (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) which is a common problem with copper-based transmission systems. The 1mm fiber diameter is about 500 times thicker than a glass optical fiber. LaserMotive, a company known for using lasers to transmit power through the air, is expanding to a new medium: fiber-optic cables. The scope uses Leupold's CM-R² reticle, ballistically calibrated for the 5.56mm round. 96% of the cores cross section conducts modulated light for data transmission similar to glass optical fiber applications. This is a phenomenon known as total internal reflection, and it forms the basis of fiber optics, in which light is transmitted over long distances through transparent glass fibers. Optical engineering advancement produces a generous 3.3 inches of constant eye relief while decreasing overall scope length to 13.9 inches. Leupold's premium Xtended Twilight Lens System and DiamondCoat 2 coating ensure good light transmission. Best-quality glass is fully multi-coated to allow maximum light transmission.
